Listen to Bud Clayman’s interview on NPR’s “All Things Considered”!
Larry Kane interviewed Bud Clayman, Scott Johnston, Glenn Holsten, and Dr. Jon Grayson about their experience making OC87 on The Comcast Network’s program “Voice of Reason” on May 1, 2011.

May 2011 was a bi-coastal month for OC87 – in addition to the NCBBH conference screening, we were also honored as one of five films featured in the annual Reel Mind theatre and film series in Rochester, NY. This unique, multi-week event explores not only the social stigma of mental illness, but also the associated struggles, hopes, and pathways of recovery. In spite of a rainy evening, OC87 was a sellout at the charming Cinema Theatre. Since every seat was occupied, Princess, the theatre’s resident feline, felt compelled to pace the aisles as OC87 was rolling. Afterwards, Rochester psychologist Jeff Levenkron, PhD, moderated an upbeat Q&A session with hundreds of audience members and the OC87 directing team (Bud, Glenn, and Scott). We extend special thanks to Ruth Cowing, Reel Mind’s Co-director, for being such a terrific host.
In early May, OC87 participated in a behavioral health film festival at a prominent national mental health conference. Occurring in sunny San Diego over four days, the conference was the annual gathering of the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare Providers. NCCBH is comprised of over 1,800 mental health providers that serve children, adolescents, and adults. Nearly 100 mental health professionals watched OC87, then participated in a lively Q&A session with OC87 filmmaker/subject Bud Clayman. The OC87 directing team (Bud, Glenn Holsten, and Scott Johnston) enjoyed this conference, highlights of which included a talk by President Bill Clinton, and spending some time with fellow filmmakers Delaney Ruston, MD (“Unlisted: the Story of Schizophrenia”), and Jan Haakens, PhD (“Guilty Except for Insanity”).
Two of OC87’s directors, Bud Clayman and Scott Johnston, were interviewed on February 14, 2011 on the podcast “One Hour AT A Time” with Mary Woods.
